Pemberdayaan Kader dalam Program Self Care Management Penderita Diabetes Melitus Di Puskesmas Mentikan Kota Mojokerto

Abstract

Self-care management allows patients to develop problem-solving skills. Having problem-solving skills in Diabetes Mellitus allows patients to decide on the best management for themselves. This activity aims to provide knowledge and understanding to cadres. The service method used is providing education about self-care management. The respondents in this activity were 35 cadres in the Mentikan Community Health Center working area, Mojokerto City. The implementation stages of this activity include 1) Pre-test (cadres' knowledge about self-care management for diabetes mellitus sufferers); 2) Lecture (giving material); 3) Discussion; 4) Post-test (cadres' knowledge about self-care management for diabetes mellitus sufferers). The analysis results show that the majority of respondents were aged 41-50 years at 42.9%, the education level of most respondents was high school, namely 80%, the level of knowledge and ability of cadres before being given education was mostly sufficient at 57.1%. The level of knowledge and ability of cadres after education is mostly good, namely 85.7%. The results of the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test statistical test resulted in ρ = 0.000, meaning there was a significant difference between cadres' knowledge before and after education on self-care management of diabetes mellitus. The success of this activity is increasing the knowledge of cadres and the community regarding the prevention of Diabetes Mellitus, marked by increased understanding, responses, attitudes and behaviour. Companions for diabetes mellitus patients (caregivers) are expected to also play an active role in implementing self-care management for diabetes mellitus apart from cadres because the caregiver is with the patient daily.
